WBTLF brings together practitioners, instructors, clubs, organizations and representatives who share an interest in the preservation and responsible development of Bando, Lethwei and associated Myanmar martial traditions. Its international role is based on cooperation rather than replacing national laws or national sporting structures.

From the World Thaing Bando Federation to WBTLF

An international project established in France
The organization was legally declared in the Isère department of France on 15 September 2006 under the name World Thaing Bando Federation — WTBF.
Its original purpose already included international promotion and development of Thaing-Bando, Bama Lethwei, Naban, Banshay, internal practices, technical education and relations with national and international organizations.
The WBTLF project builds on this historical foundation while modernizing its identity, governance and international organization.

The international headquarters coordinates administrative work, international relations, institutional documentation and the development of the WBTLF network.

Understanding the WBTLF
Is WBTLF an international organization?
Yes. Its purpose is international cooperation, technical development and the promotion of Myanmar martial traditions across different countries.
Does WBTLF replace national sports federations?
No. WBTLF provides an international framework. Organizations and practitioners remain subject to the laws and sporting rules applicable in their own countries.
What disciplines are represented?
The principal disciplines presented within the current WBTLF framework are Bando, Lethwei, Naban and Banshay. Other associated practices may be documented separately.
How can a country or organization join WBTLF?
Membership and representation procedures will be published in the Member Nations and Documents sections. Interested organizations can already contact WBTLF for information.
